Bengaluru-based startup BosonQ Psi (BQP) has raised $4.9 million in an oversubscribed seed round to expand its digital twin simulation platform, BQPhy. With this, the company is targeting mission-critical sectors, including aerospace, defence, and semiconductors

The funding comes just after BQP’s pilot agreement with the Air Force Research Laboratory’s (AFRL) Aerospace Systems Directorate under a cooperative research and development agreement (CRADA) to develop quantum-accelerated simulation tools.

The round was led by Monta Vista Capital with New York Ventures, Arc Ventures, Armory Square Ventures, Emergent Ventures, and several others also being part of the deal. This also included angel investors and existing backers, such as Paradigm Shift Capital and Griffiss Institute.

With this round, BQP’s total funding now stands at $6.6 million.

Abhishek Chopra, founder and CEO of BQP, claimed that the company is setting new benchmarks in simulation technology and making progress in developing quantum-native solvers for Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Machine Learning (ML).

“The traction we’re experiencing from AFRL/RQ and industry-leading design partners validates the immediate impact and substantial ROI our platform delivers today,” Chopra said. He added that the company is also working on future simulation workload for the next generation of data centres where HPC and quantum computers operate side by side.

BQP’s BQPhy platform is designed for hybrid computing systems, including CPUs, GPUs, and future quantum machines. The current version offers a tenfold speed increase using quantum-inspired solvers on classical hardware, while quantum-native versions are expected to scale this to 1000X on next-generation quantum computers.

Roger Krakoff, partner at Monta Vista Capital, said, “BQP directly tackles critical bottlenecks in the rapidly evolving $22 billion simulation industry, where conventional technologies have struggled to keep pace with innovation demands in sectors like aerospace & defence, semiconductor, and energy.”

The startup is collaborating with major aerospace and defence players, including India’s ministry of heavy industries, ABB, and a tier-1 aerospace manufacturer, as the company mentioned. It has also collaborated with quantum ecosystem partners, including Intel, IBM, Classiq, and Strangeworks.

The company is also poised to present its developments at AIAA Aviation in Las Vegas and ASME Fluids Engineering this July.
