The Chief Minister (CM) of Chhattisgarh, Vishnu Deo Sai, has inaugurated one of India’s first AI-based data centre parks in Raipur on 4 May, with an estimated ₹1000 crore in funding spent over the next two years.

According to the Chhattisgarh government, the park is being developed on 13.5 acres of land, of which 2.7 hectares are used for a special economic zone.

The project, managed by Rack Bank Data Centres, will focus solely on AI services, beginning with an initial capacity of 80 MW in the first phase and expanding to 150 MW. The government said there is also a potential additional investment of ₹2000 crore in this project.

While developing storage and processing facilities, it will also provide services in AI, Health Tech, Defence, Fintech, and Data Analytics. The park will also have GPU-based high-end computing infrastructure, recording, live data streaming, and AI processing facilities.

The data centre park will also provide advanced AI solutions to the agriculture and education sectors, benefiting students and farmers in rural areas, IndiaToday reported. The state government said AI technology could help farmers with smart farming, accurate weather information, and crop management.

The government also claims to create around 500 direct and 1500 indirect employment opportunities through this project. The park would also handle national and global data traffic, helping to speed up government services while the government pushes for a digitally self-reliant state.

At the inauguration, CM Vishnu Deo Sai said, “This is not just a data centre; it’s the digital backbone for a new era of growth and empowerment.” He emphasised that Chhattisgarh could become the heartbeat of digital India.

Similarly, CtrlS Datacenters’ new data centre park was also inaugurated in Chennai’s Ambattur Industrial Estate in February this year. As reported by AIM earlier, this project represented a direct investment of ₹4,000 crore and is expected to attract ₹50,000 crore in indirect investment. Meanwhile, the company also revealed its plans in January to build a data centre park at Chandanvelly Industrial Park near Hyderabad.
