DeepLearning.AI Launches Free Course on Building Apps with AI Coding Agents
DeepLearning.AI, the AI upskilling platform, has announced a free short course on building apps with AI coding agents, specifically on the Windsurf platform. The course is taught by Anshul Ramachandran, head of enterprise and partnerships at Codeium, the company that built the Windsurf tool.
The course helps learners start with Windsurf and build a snake game in a “couple of minutes”, as well as a Wikipedia data analysis app. The latter will involve building a full-stack app that retrieves, parses, and analyses word frequencies and visualises the data analysis.
Further, the course will teach them how to use the AI agent to analyse and fix issues in JavaScript code, understand a large, outdated codebase, and update it according to the latest frameworks and packages.
It will also cover how to use multimodal capabilities to accelerate development by adding functionalities to an app by uploading mockups of UI sketches.
The course is one hour and ten minutes long, and DeepLearning.AI suggests “anyone familiar with coding” and a basic understanding of LLMs and prompting as prerequisites.
AI-enabled coding platforms are on the rise. Replit on Wednesday announced the second version of its coding agent, Replit Agent v2. The startup also announced a feature that lets users quickly build functional apps with natural language prompts.
On the other hand, Cursor, another AI-enabled coding tool, became the ‘fastest growing SaaS company of all time’ and achieved $100 million in Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) in just 21 months since its inception.
Recently, Google announced the public preview of Gemini Code Assist, a free AI-powered coding assistant for individuals. The tool is globally available and supports all programming languages in the public domain.
Besides, DeepLearning.AI offers over 50 short and free courses that help learners leverage the latest advancements and tools in generative AI. It also offers specialised courses on data engineering, machine learning, and deep learning.
Most recently, it announced a course on how to use Anthropic Claude’s Computer Use to autonomously navigate computer interfaces.
