Elon Musk’s AI startup, xAI, is quickly becoming a formidable competitor to OpenAI. The company recently launched Grok-2, its latest model with image generation capabilities that operate without filters or censorship. xAI also made headlines with the launch of Colossus, an AI supercomputer that Musk has called ‘the most powerful AI training system in the world’. 

Powered by NVIDIA’s H100 GPUs, Colossus is set to dramatically accelerate xAI’s research. Musk shared that the supercomputer went live over a weekend, with the entire setup completed in just 122 days. Looking ahead, xAI plans to expand Colossus, doubling its size to 200,000 GPUs in the near future.
