Anand Mahindra Praises Swaayatt Robots’ Level 5 Autonomy Efforts
Anand Mahindra, Chairman of Mahindra and Mahindra, praised the Indian autonomous driving company Swaayatt Robots for achieving Level 5 autonomy. “Evidence of tech innovation rising across India. An engineer who’s not just building yet another delivery app,” he posted on X, attaching a Swaayatt Robots demo video.
“Sanjeev is using complex math to target level 5 autonomy. I’m cheering loudly. And certainly won’t debate his choice of car!, he added.
Last year, Swaayatt Robots announced that it achieved the world’s first Level 5 autonomous driving capability. In the demonstration, its autonomous vehicle i.e, Mahindra Bolero, learned to negotiate complex traffic dynamics in the Toll-Plaza and successfully crossed highly unstructured toll-gates.
Interestingly, Swaayatt Robots uses the Mahindra Bolero for its demonstrations. When AIM got in touch with Swaayatt’s chief, Sanjeev Sharma, he said that he uses the Bolero because when he started the company, it was the only vehicle he owned and it was cheaper.
“Mahindra Bolero is the easiest of the vehicles and one of the most inexpensive vehicles. If we really want to just install an electromechanical system, then it is one of the most inexpensive vehicles available,” said Sharma.
Recently, Swaayatt Robots posted a demonstration where its autonomous vehicle drives through traffic and environmental scenarios. The autonomous vehicle starts from a generic open environment at the temple, where there are no traffic rules to abide by. It then exits the region and assumes a generic autonomous navigation behavior, negotiating complex traffic scenes.
