JupyterLab Desktop, the cross-platform desktop version of the popular web-based interactive development environment for working with Jupyter notebooks, has recently received a new upgrade – JupyterLab Desktop v3.6.  The new update looks to boost the user experience and make the setting up Jupyter notebooks on your personal computer much simpler and faster.

Check it out here.

In addition, it introduced sessions and projects. The sessions stand in for local project launches and connections to JupyterLab servers. Projects, on the other hand, can be used to manage individually because they are created with their own configuration and tasks.

JupyterLab Desktop Gets a New Makeover

The Welcome Page’s “Start” section provides options to start sessions and projects. Both locally and remotely, numerous sessions and projects may be handled at once. Users can work on different projects with different dependencies without running into any conflicts since each session has its own Python environment.

The ‘Welcome Page’, which offers links to various session setup options, is the first page that is shown when you begin the programme. The news feed offers current information about projects inside the Jupyter ecosystem, and clicking on an item in the feed displays the blog post in question in a browser.

When the app is launched, JupyterLab Desktop automatically identifies Python environments that are compatible with it and displays the server status on the session window’s title bar. Users can choose a different Python environment from the options without restarting the application. The Settings option can modify the default working directory and Python environment parameters. Users can start a fresh session or restore the windows from the most recent active session by going to the Settings option, where they can adjust the startup mode. In the latest release, progress views with action links are also included.
