Baidu AI

According to reports, Baidu, the largest search engine in China, will debut its own AI chatbot in March 2023, which would be comparable to OpenAI’s ChatGPT.

Baidu intends to release the service as a separate application before incorporating it into its search engine. Although the name has yet to be decided, users will be able to receive search results that are conversational in nature, similar to ChatGPT.

Also known as China’s Google, Baidu is also working on autonomous driving technologies besides AI research.

In addition to Baidu, several Chinese companies investigating generative AI have drawn the interest of investors, including Sequoia and Sinovation Ventures.

Big Tech’s ChatGPT Showdown

The rise of ChatGPT has sparked increased competition among tech powerhouses to advance their AI capabilities.

While Google has previously said that it does not plan to develop its own ChatGPT due to its potential biases and errors, the company has recently issued a ‘code red’ to accelerate its AI services and products. Meanwhile, Meta has also issued internal memos to ramp up its AI approval process.

It will be intriguing to see what innovative solutions these tech powerhouses will unveil soon.
