This Airtel backed spacetech firm just deployed 34 satellites to expand its broadband services
OneWeb, a global communications company, backed by Bharati Airtel confirmed the deployment of 34 satellites into orbit on February 10. The company has 428 satellites in orbit currently and plans to launch 228 satellites in future.
“Our first launch of the year marks our significant progress in completing a truly global LEO network later in 2022. We continue to see growing demand for OneWeb’s industry-leading services as we look forward to delivering on our ambition to build robust, secure, and global access to broadband services,” said Neil Masterson, CEO of OneWeb.
OneWeb has signed new distribution partnership agreements with Hughes Network Systems, Marlink, and Field Solutions Holdings to help ensure connectivity is delivered to the most hard-to-reach places globally.
OneWeb, in partnership with Hughes, plans to offer high-speed, low-latency satellite broadband solutions and contribute to the Digital India vision. OneWeb’s constellation will cover the length and breadth of India, from Ladakh to Kanyakumari and from Gujarat to the Northeast and bring secure solutions to enterprises, governments, telcos, airline companies and maritime customers, Masterson added.
