Oracle

In the 2010s, public cloud offerings got a major boost. They offered customers the ability to segregate and compute huge amounts of data and even scale them independently. These lucrative advantages were enough for many companies to migrate their analytics workloads en masse from on-premise to cloud.

This is also why cloud data lakes started gaining popularity because they freed the customer from investing in cap-ex for new initiatives. With a cloud data lake, a customer can reserve resources in the cloud for the complete duration of their project with the business, operational, advanced analytics, business intelligence, AI and machine learning aspect of it being taken care of.

A cloud data lake is a cloud-hosted storage solution that takes care of an organisation’s data needs, both structured and unstructured while providing analysis and useful insights. A cloud data lake drastically reduces and simplifies the whole process of getting useful business insights.

To help businesses migrate to cloud data lakes, Oracle, in association with Analytics India Magazine, is organising a virtual CXO roundtable discussion on ‘Transforming analytics with modern Data Lakes, Data Warehouses and Clouds’, scheduled for March 3, 2022.

The round table discussion will see participation from influential and experienced business leaders and analytics heads sharing their insights on data management and cloud infrastructure.

The roundtable session will be an excellent platform to hear from peers, colleagues & industry experts and engage in thought-provoking discussions. The panellists will be discussing planning, architecting, prototyping, and managing cloud migrations.

Time: 04:00 PM – 05:30 PM

Cloud data lakes as differentiators

Estimates suggest that by 2025, the global volume of big data is expected to reach 175 ZB. This explosion of data volumes offers many opportunities for business leaders – from better personalisation to predictive decision-making insights.

In such a situation, data lakes are becoming a go-to option for many companies. Since data is usually loaded in raw format as they enter the company systems, data lakes can help all the stakeholders find and access the right information. Companies are slowly moving from smaller pilot projects to offering self-service solutions for their customers using data lakes.

Despite the range of opportunities that data lakes offer, it is a challenge to integrate them with the other elements of the technology architecture, supporting talent and capabilities for deploying data lakes and realising business benefits and establishing a framework for appropriate company-wide use of data lakes.
