IBM To Double Down On Data, AI and Cloud Services In 2020
IBM wants to regain the markets that it has lost over the years and become an IT leader once again. For this, the company has planned to double down on data, AI, and cloud services in 2020. Leveraging the latest technologies, IBM is devising a plan to deliver superior services to assist its clients in various verticals.
“In the last couple of years, IBM has made great strides in building new-age solutions and technology. We have then bundled sorts around analytics, cognitive, and cloud. Now, as we go along, it’s of paramount importance that we don’t only restrict ourselves to this. Therefore we think the next step forward in the cloud computing, cloud and cognitive enterprise,” Kamal Singhani, Managing Partner, Global Business Services, IBM India/South Asia told to a media firm. IBM is also exploring opportunities in a market that is otherwise going through a slowdown. For this, the company is looking to assist its customers in transitioning from what it describes as “classical IT” to “business IT.
Lingraju Sawkar, General Manager, Global Technology Services, IBM India/South Asia, shed light on the auto industry that has been in a crisis for months. Talking about auto companies in the country, Sawkar said, “An innovative approach that IBM took for this specific automaker, we relooked at how they engage with their customers, and how technology could become a solution through which they can remain connected with their customers over the period, enabling both the automaker and the customer to be in constant connection through the lifecycle of the vehicle as well as the lifecycle of usage patterns.”
“This gave rise to a unique connected cars project with the automaker. And that connected car project has a lot of good technology net around including IoT, cloud analytics, data and others. All this pulled together became a unique differentiator for the automaker,” he added.
In an attempt to revolutionise the automobile industry, IBM has collaborated with Maruti Suzuki for a 10-year partnership to offer its technology-based solutions for projects such as connected cars. IBM will design, develop and manage connected car platform commercially called ‘Suzuki Connect’. IBM’s solutions for Maruti are comprised of IoT CVI SaaS platform, IBM Cloud, Global Technology Services (GTS) Managed Services and IBM Security Services.
